{"id":1201072,"date":"2022-08-26T03:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-26T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lourdescatholic.org\/church\/news\/1201072\/"},"modified":"2022-08-31T08:49:22","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T13:49:22","slug":"friday-of-the-twenty-first-week-in-ordinary-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lourdescatholic.org\/church\/daily-readings\/1201072\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday of the Twenty-First Week in Ordinary Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Reading 1  <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/1corinthians\/1?17\">1 COR 1:17-25<\/a><\/h4>\n<div class=\"poetry\">\n<p>Brothers and sisters:<br \/>\nChrist did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel,<br \/>\nand not with the wisdom of human eloquence,<br \/>\nso that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.<\/p>\n<p>The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,<br \/>\nbut to us who are being saved it is the power of God.<br \/>\nFor it is written:<br \/><em>I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,<br \/>\nand the learning of the learned I will set aside.<\/em><br \/>\nWhere is the wise one?<br \/>\nWhere is the scribe?<br \/>\nWhere is the debater of this age?<br \/>\nHas not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?<br \/>\nFor since in the wisdom of God<br \/>\nthe world did not come to know God through wisdom,<br \/>\nit was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation<br \/>\nto save those who have faith.<br \/>\nFor Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,<br \/>\nbut we proclaim Christ crucified,<br \/>\na stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,<br \/>\nbut to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike,<br \/>\nChrist the power of God and the wisdom of God.<br \/>\nFor the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,<br \/>\nand the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Responsorial Psalm  <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/33?1\">PS\u00a033:1-2, 4-5, 10-11 <\/a><\/h4>\n<div class=\"poetry\">\n<p>R.
