Reading 1 1 COR 1:17-25<\/a><\/h4>\n
\n

Brothers and sisters:
\nChrist did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel,
\nand not with the wisdom of human eloquence,
\nso that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.<\/p>\n

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
\nbut to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
\nFor it is written:
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
\nand the learning of the learned I will set aside.<\/em>
\nWhere is the wise one?
\nWhere is the scribe?
\nWhere is the debater of this age?
\nHas not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?
\nFor since in the wisdom of God
\nthe world did not come to know God through wisdom,
\nit was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation
\nto save those who have faith.
\nFor Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
\nbut we proclaim Christ crucified,
\na stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
\nbut to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike,
\nChrist the power of God and the wisdom of God.
\nFor the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,
\nand the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jesus told his disciples this parable:
\n\u201cThe Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins
\nwho took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.\u00a0
\nFive of them were foolish and five were wise.\u00a0
\nThe foolish ones, when taking their lamps,
\nbrought no oil with them,
\nbut the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.\u00a0
\nSince the bridegroom was long delayed,
\nthey all became drowsy and fell asleep.
\nAt midnight, there was a cry,
\n\u2018Behold, the bridegroom! \u00a0Come out to meet him!\u2019\u00a0
\nThen all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.\u00a0
\nThe foolish ones said to the wise,
\n\u2018Give us some of your oil,
\nfor our lamps are going out.\u2019\u00a0
\nBut the wise ones replied,
\n\u2018No, for there may not be enough for us and you.
\nGo instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.\u2019\u00a0
\nWhile they went off to buy it,
\nthe bridegroom came
\nand those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him.\u00a0
\nThen the door was locked.
\nAfterwards the other virgins came and said,
\n\u2018Lord, Lord, open the door for us!\u2019\u00a0
\nBut he said in reply,
\n\u2018Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.\u2019\u00a0
\nTherefore, stay awake,
