A Framework for the Future of the Bettendorf Catholic Community

The Catholic community in Bettendorf has been prayerfully discerning how best to sustain and strengthen parish life for future generations. Over the past several months, parish leadership and the Joint Strategic Planning Committee have studied the pastoral, financial, and demographic realities facing our community while listening carefully to the voices of parishioners at St. John Vianney Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic School.

That process has now led to a significant step forward. Bishop Dennis Walsh has officially issued the decree merging St. John Vianney Parish and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish into St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish of Bettendorf, effective July 1, 2026.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter as we move forward as one parish with two campuses. On the front end, parish life will remain familiar, with both campuses continuing as active and vibrant centers of worship, formation, and community. At the same time, we will begin the ongoing work of more intentionally bringing ministries and activities together as we grow into one parish, united in mission.
