My name is Jay Sawyer, and I have been teaching Physical Education at Lourdes for 33 years.  I have also taught Health classes and preschool gym classes. I received my degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Lourdes is the only teaching job I have ever had.  I have also been an athletic director at Lourdes and have coached various sports at all different levels. My wife, Carri, is a teacher for Davenport schools.  We have 3 children.  Abbey is 32 and a nurse at Trinity Hospital in Bettendorf.  She is married to Troy Hess and has a 2 year old daughter, Cora.  Jordan is 30 and has a State Farm agency in Bettendorf.  He and his wife, Kasandra, have a 7 year old son, Oliver, and a 2 year old son, Milo.  Troy is 26 years old and works for Jordan at State Farm. I have had other jobs and responsibilities at Lourdes.  I have done fundraisers for special school projects.  For the last 7 years, I have helped set up Field Day. I have always valued my time with the students and view physical education as an important part of the educational process.  I have stayed at Lourdes because I like the people I work with, and we have the BEST students!
