Mock Trial is a competitive, extra-curricular activity that provides an opportunity for students to learn about the law and the court trial process. Our Middle School Mock Trial season begins in September and continues through mid-November. Sixth – Eighth-grade students meet during their lunch hour 2-3 times a week with an attorney-coach to prepare for the scheduled court date.

During these meetings, students work as a team with the attorney to learn about basic trial procedures and rules to guide and govern claims of truth within the judicial system. Students are presented a court case with evidence to review and prepare Opening Statements, Direct Examinations, Cross Examinations, and Closing Arguments.

The Regional Competition takes place at the Scott County Courthouse in Davenport, Iowa. The final competition for advancing teams takes place in Des Moines, Iowa.
