How can I ensure that my child gets a spot in the state-funded 4-year old PreK program at Lourdes?
To be eligible, your child must be a resident of Iowa, and be four years old on or before September 15 of the school year you plan to enroll. Spots fill up quickly, so the best way to guarantee you get a spot is to enroll in our 3-year old Preschool the year prior to your child’s eligibility for the state-funded 4-year old PreK. All students enrolled in the 3-year old Preschool program (either the 2-day a week or the 3-day a week) are guaranteed placement in our 4-year old PreK the next school year.
My child has special needs. How can find out if Lourdes is a good fit?
Our faculty and staff are equipped to serve students with a Level I Individualized Education Plan (IEP) during the school day on site at Lourdes. Students in need of speech services may also be served on site at Lourdes. Lourdes consults closely with the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency (AEA) as well as with Bettendorf Community School District to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all students. Students who have a diagnosed need but do not qualify for an IEP might be served through accommodations documented in a 504 plan, through specialized intervention, or via differentiated instructional methods. We recommend that you make an appointment with the school principal, Jennifer Alongi, to take a personalized tour of the campus and to discuss the specific needs of your child before deciding to enroll.
Does Lourdes have an enrichment program?
Yes. Lourdes provides structured enrichment classes for students who need a challenge beyond their typical classroom. Additionally, Lourdes is equipped to assess the whole child to determine if single-subject or whole-grade acceleration is recommended – a team study that involves a large amount of input from parents, as well as from teachers and the student.
Does Lourdes have a hot lunch program?
Yes. Lourdes provides a nutritious, balanced hot meal each day for $3.50 to any K-8 student who wishes to order lunch in the morning. Lunches are also provided and included in the fee for full-time Lourdes Little Lancer (LLL) Care Preschool and PreK students. A monthly lunch calendar detailing the menu each day is published and posted on our website in advance. A paper copy of the lunch calendar is also sent home with each family in advance.
