Give Blood. Save Lives!
Every two seconds, an American needs blood. There is currently a huge shortage of blood supply for donations and demand is also higher in the winter months. This Christmas season, why not give a gift that really matters? Maybe you think one donation doesn’t matter? But a single pint donation of blood can save at least three lives!
The Our Lady of Lourdes Church & School Blood Drive, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is Tuesday, December 17 from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Gym. The Knights will be doing sign-ups after masses this weekend and next weekend, or go to www.lourdescatholic.com and sign up using the link off the homepage.
Walk-ins will also be gladly accepted. Even though we are all busy preparing for Christmas, and it seems like an inconvenient time for a blood drive, it is also inconvenient for a friend, family member, or neighbor to need blood due to an illness, accident or, surgery at this time of year. In this season of giving, shouldn’t we make the gift of life a priority? If you are able, all we need is less than an hour of your time on Dec 17.
As an added incentive, those who give will receive a $10 gift card from either Amazon or Starbucks from the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. In addition, the Knights will also have additional McDonald’s or Panera gift cards available for donors (while supply lasts). So we ask for your help with reaching our lofty goal of 50 units, which would help 150 patients!
The OLOL Knights wish you a Blessed Advent, & Merry Christmas knowing that donors will have given a special gift this year: the gift of Life: Blood! You must be 110 lbs, healthy on donation day, and have a photo ID. Adults and children 16 and older (with parental permission) are eligible to donate. Call Mike McFate at (309) 269-4812 with any questions. Thank you for your consideration!
